"Katie Melua's co-performer of the night in Barmbek has previously taken the stage together"
Get ready for a day of entertainment as the "Barmbek Swings" summer festival is set to take place on Saturday, September 6, starting at 2 pm. The event will be held in front of IKEA in Altona, with the Museum of Labor and neighboring Bert-Kaempfert-Platz serving as the main venue, along with Globetrotter and the Zinnschmelze cultural center.
The festival will feature a varied family program, with interactive activities and a stage program for dance and music. Highlights include Japanese Taiko drumming, learning Ukrainian songs and dances, and a salsa crash course starting at 6 pm under the motto "vamos al baila." After the crash course, the museum courtyard will transform into a joyful, colorful dance floor.
At the heart of the festival is the performance of the Duncan Townsend Trio, who will take the stage at 7:30 pm. Duncan Townsend, the band's founder, is a singer-songwriter with over 20 years of experience. He has collaborated with pop legend Nena, toured with Katie Melua, and even performed for the Dalai Lama.
The Duncan Townsend Trio will perform a mix of original compositions and covers by artists such as Ed Sheeran, David Bowie, Johnny Cash, and The Beatles. This promises to be an unforgettable musical experience for festival-goers.
Throughout the afternoon, interactive activities will keep both children and adults engaged. These include the Muli train, Bucket percussion, Sing-along children's songs, Roller course, Music from the Jamliner bus, Fascinating movement art from Brazil, and Family singing with rounds, voice games, and music.
For those interested in arts and crafts, mobile print workshops will be available at the museum during the festival. Additionally, a free mini-cinema under the open sky will provide a relaxing break from the excitement.
To add to the festive atmosphere, a marshmallow-launching catapult by Deck Theater will be a fun attraction for all ages.
The "Barmbek Swings" summer festival will last for eight hours, making it a full day of entertainment. Don't miss out on this exciting event!
