Kansas dominates FCS team Wagner, with Jalon Daniels throwing four touchdowns, resulting in a comprehensive rout.
Kansas Jayhawks Dominate Wagner, Prepare for Missouri Showdown
In a commanding display of football, the University of Kansas Jayhawks defeated Wagner 46-7 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 5, 2025. The victory marked the resumption of the old Border Showdown rivalry, with the Jayhawks looking to regain their dominance against the Missouri Tigers, who defeated Kansas 42-31 in this 121st edition of the rivalry game in 2011.
Quarterback Jalon Daniels led the charge for Kansas, completing 18 of 25 passes for a impressive 280 yards and throwing an impressive four touchdowns. Daniels found Emmanuel Henderson Jr. on a 62-yard bomb for a touchdown in the second half, as well as connecting with him for a 9-yard score earlier in the game. Henderson Jr. was not the only receiver to benefit from Daniels' precision passing, as Cam Pickett also caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from the quarterback.
The first half of the game saw Kansas take a commanding 29-0 lead, with the score remaining relatively unchanged until the second quarter when Wagner scored their first points with a 45-yard screen pass from Jack Stevens to Jeremiah Colclough. Stevens finished the game with 13 completions from 20 attempts for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Despite a red-zone interception and a fumble at the Wagner goal line, Kansas managed to maintain their lead, resuming their dominance in the second half with a 75-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown. A 20-yard carry by Daniel Hishaw extended Kansas' lead to 29-0 midway through the second quarter, and the game was never in doubt from that point on.
The Jayhawks were only 4-of-10 on third down conversions in the game, but their offensive firepower was more than enough to overcome any struggles in that department. The score at halftime was 29-7 in favor of Kansas, and the game ended with a final score of 46-7.
With the victory, Kansas will now turn their attention to their next opponent, the Missouri Tigers, who they will face next Saturday in Columbia, Missouri. The Jayhawks will be looking to avenge their loss from 2011 and continue their resurgence under the leadership of quarterback Jalon Daniels and head coach Les Miles.
