July 2025 Revenue from Ohio Casinos Reaches $88.9 Million, Representing an 8.4% Increase
In the heart of the Midwest, Ohio is poised for a potential shift in its casino industry, thanks to Senate Bill 197. This bill, introduced by Senator Nathan Manning in May, aims to legalize online casino gaming in the Buckeye State.
The bill has garnered support from gambling industry groups, some casino operators, and lawmakers looking to expand gaming revenues for the state. If passed, operators running their own online platforms would face a 36% tax on revenue, while those partnering with third-party providers would pay a slightly higher rate of 40%.
Currently, Ohio's casinos are thriving. The total revenue generated from slot machines during the month reached an impressive $852.1 million. Hollywood Casino Columbus led the slot market with revenue of $19.6 million, while Jack Cleveland Casino saw the strongest table game performance with nearly $8.2 million in revenue. In total, there are more than 6,070 slots and 370 tables across the four casinos in Ohio.
The potential digital expansion of casinos in Ohio could reshape how players engage with gambling across the state. As one of the most watched states in the casino sector due to the mix of rising on-site play and potential online growth, Ohio stands to benefit significantly from this proposed legislation.
However, it's important to note that the total revenue generated from table games during the month was nearly $99.5 million. This figure underscores the importance of striking a balance between the interests of the casino industry and the state's financial needs.
As the legislative process unfolds, Ohioans and the wider gambling community will be watching closely to see how Senate Bill 197 shapes the future of gaming in the Buckeye State.
