Joy over weight exceeding 102 kg
The Düsseldorf Eislöwen Giant Ants (DEG) are gearing up for an exciting new season, following a series of impressive test game victories and a highly anticipated opener against the Bremerhaven Sharks.
In their first test game of the season, the DEG secured a narrow 4:3 victory against HC Thurgau in a thrilling penalty shootout. This was followed by a 5:2 win against the Sauerlanders in an unofficial test, and a resounding 10:0 away victory against the Moskitos in Essen.
Coach Harold Kreis and Sports Director Niki Mondt are pleased with the team's progress so far, praising the tough and impressive playing style of Chad Nehring, who has already scored several goals for the DEG. However, the team has faced challenges, with several key players, including Svensson, Olimb, Huß, and Bukarts, either injured or having left the team.
The DEG will face two more tough tests against Swiss teams from Fribourg and Geneva in the coming days. The absence of Johannes Johannesen, who suffered a concussion, is a concern for the team, and his return date is yet to be determined.
The official DEL season opener for the DEG is scheduled for Saturday, but the exact opponent has not been confirmed. The Düsseldorf Ice Sports Community is expecting a "slight increase" in season ticket sales before the home game against Bremerhaven.
Two former Bremerhaven players, Chad Nehring and Nicholas B. Jensen, are standouts for the DEG hockey team. At 102 kg, Jensen, a big defenseman, is a key player for the team.
As the new season approaches, the DEG hockey team is ready to take on the challenges and continue their winning streak. The anticipation for the official season opener against Bremerhaven is high, and fans are eager to support their team at the Düsseldorf ISS Dome.
