Bluewater Dive Travel Announces Macro Photography Workshop in Anilao, Philippines
Get ready for an unforgettable underwater photography adventure! Bluewater Dive Travel is organizing a Macro Photography Workshop in Anilao, Philippines, a top dive destination known for its rich biodiversity.
The workshop, led by trip leaders Mark Hatter and Mike Smith, is scheduled to take place from December 3rd to 11th, 2023. For those planning ahead, Bluewater Dive Travel also offers trips in December 2024, April 2025, and December 2025.
Each trip offers a chance to participate in daily image reviews, personalized guidance, and opportunities to capture a variety of marine species. Participants can expect to encounter and photograph various rare and uncommon marine species such as flamboyant cuttlefish, Colmans Shrimp, Zebra Shrimp, Rhinopias weedy scorpionfish, pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, wonderpus, mimic octopus, blue ring octopus, argonauts, and countless vibrant nudibranchs.
The reefs and muck diving sites in and around Anilao are in fantastic condition due to regular upwelling currents that sustain biodiversity by producing plankton. This makes for an ideal environment for macro photography.
The workshop includes six comprehensive presentations on macro photography, snoot shooting, creative techniques, wide-angle photography, blackwater shooting, and a live Lightroom demonstration. Personalized, one-on-one guidance is provided to guests on various topics such as camera settings, underwater shooting techniques, and image post-processing.
Prices for the trips vary depending on the duration and accommodation type. For the 7-night trips in December 2024 and 2025, the cost for shared accommodation is $1,809 and $1,999, respectively, while single occupancy costs $2,009 and $2,199, respectively. The 10-night trip in April 2025 costs $2,559 for shared accommodation.
A photo shootout is held at the end of the workshop, where guests submit a single image from the two morning dives for the trip photo contest. The workshop concludes with a gallery of images to cherish and proudly showcase.
