Sam Elzinga, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, will be laid to rest on Monday, September 8, 2025. The funeral service will take place at three different locations, reflecting the diverse aspects of his life.
The day will begin at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA, where the family will welcome guests from 10 AM. The funeral service itself will commence at 11 AM. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
Sam, who was born in Koudum, Netherlands, moved to the United States and later graduated from Manchester High School in Haledon, NJ. He served his country with honour in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968. After his military service, Sam dedicated 30 years of his life to Bell Telephone (later known as Verizon) as a central office technician.
Sam is survived by his wife Judy, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, his two children Peter Elzinga and Kristen Ridge, four grandchildren, and a sister, Jane Lindemulder. He was predeceased by his siblings Piery Moens and Andrew Elzinga.
Sam's life was filled with simple pleasures. He took pride in doing yard work and gardening, and he enjoyed taking trips around the country. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Sam's name to Luther Acres Benevolent Fund, Lititz, PA.
