Johanniter Academy Hosts "Tactical Week" for Emergency Training
From September 25 to 28, the Johanniter Academy in Mitteldeutschland will play host to a four-day training event known as the "Tactical Week." This intensive training is specifically designed for emergency medical technicians hailing from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
The focus of the training is on emergency situations, encompassing a wide range of scenarios such as terrorist incidents, shootings, and natural disasters. The Federal Police, Technical Relief Agency (THW), and the fire department are among the organisations collaborating to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
During the weekend of training near Meißen, Germany, the participants had the opportunity to practice responding to various emergency situations. This included disaster response, fire scenarios, water rescue, and blackout situations.
Carsten Herde, a member of the Johanniter state board, emphasised the high level of preparedness and training of their disaster protection teams and water rescue services in Saxony. He also highlighted the importance of extensive exchange with experts from various fields, including the military, in enhancing their capabilities.
One notable aspect of the training involved the THW setting up an eight-meter-high tower for training abseiling, securing, and knot-tying techniques. This practical component is crucial in ensuring the emergency responders are well-equipped to handle a variety of situations.
The training programme also included workshops on situation assessment, self-protection, and de-escalation in conflict situations, as well as blackout scenarios and chemical, biological, and nuclear hazards.
It is worth noting that the Johanniter regularly organises training and further education for emergency scenarios. This ongoing commitment to preparing their teams for various emergencies is a testament to their dedication to public safety.
However, the names of the organisations participating in the "Tactical Week" at the Johanniter Academy in Central Germany from September 25 to 28 have not been publicly disclosed at this time.
The training will take place near Leipzig, providing a central location for the participating emergency medical technicians from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. This event promises to be a valuable learning opportunity, further equipping these responders to handle emergencies effectively and efficiently.
