Joblessness rate stands at 3.19% in July, according to Romania's National Employment Agency
In July 2025, the unemployment rate in Romania, as reported by the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), stood at 3.19%. This represents a slight increase of 0.03 percentage points compared to the previous month.
A total of 254,464 people were unemployed at the end of July. Among them, 135,228 were men, while 119,236 were women. The majority of the unemployed people were aged between 40 and 49, with 63,579 individuals falling into this category. The second largest group were those over 55 years old, accounting for 61,938 unemployed people.
Interestingly, the age group of those between 25 and 29 accounted for 14,077 unemployed people. On the other hand, those with university education represented only 4.45% of the total registered unemployed people, while unemployed people with secondary education made up 34.17%. The unemployed without education and those with primary education collectively accounted for 31.39% of the total registered unemployed people.
In terms of geographical distribution, a total of 187,706 unemployed people resided in rural areas, while 66,758 resided in urban areas. According to the records of ANOFM, 51,402 unemployed people had benefits.
The Romanian government minister responsible for monitoring the unemployment rate is the Minister of Labour and Social Protection, who as of 2025 is Marius-Constantin Budăi.
