Jobless rate rises slightly in Pforzheim during July
In the vibrant city of Pforzheim, located in the picturesque North Black Forest region, the labor market is experiencing a notable positive trend. According to Martina Lehmann, Chairwoman of the Management Board of the Agentur für Arbeit Nagold-Pforzheim, the region is making significant strides, with over 600 more open positions and 1,200 fewer unemployed individuals compared to a year ago.
The latest figures reveal that the number of unemployed individuals in Pforzheim has decreased by a substantial 1,200 compared to a year ago, leaving a total of 3,751 individuals registered as unemployed in July. This decrease is a promising sign, indicating that the region is on the right track.
However, the labor market in Pforzheim experienced a mild slowdown in July, with 325 job offers reported, which is a 3.0 percent decrease compared to the previous month and a 10.2 percent decrease compared to July 2017. Despite this temporary dip, the demand for labor remained unusually high, with a total of 1,494 vacancies reported in the last four weeks, marking a 16.9% increase from June.
The increase in job offers and the decrease in unemployment rate suggest a positive trend in the labor market of Pforzheim. Currently, there are 1,133 open job offers, which is 21.6 percent more than a year ago. Skilled workers with vocational training are particularly in demand in Pforzheim.
It's worth noting that the increase in unemployment in July is typical for the season and not a cause for concern. In comparison, the unemployment rate in Pforzheim was 6.1 percent in the same month last year. The current unemployment rate stands at 5.6 percent, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from June. Of these, 1,336 were receiving unemployment insurance, and 2,415 were receiving basic security.
Despite the slight increase in the unemployment rate, Pforzheim remains the district with the lowest unemployment rate among the 44 districts in Baden-Württemberg. This continued progress is a testament to the robust and thriving labor market in Pforzheim.
In the last month, the job agency Nagold-Pforzheim district reported a total of 742 newly announced open positions for skilled workers. Specifically, in the city of Pforzheim, 197 new job offers were reported in August 2025, with a total of 852 open positions currently listed.
Martina Lehmann also mentioned that the progress in Pforzheim is a positive sign, indicating that the region is moving in the right direction. With the labor market showing a positive trend, it's an exciting time for job seekers and businesses alike in Pforzheim.
