Jesuits and the Javieres have sealed the deal for the sale of the Sacred Heart Church.

In a historic moment, the Hermandad de los Javieres has regained its foundational headquarters, the Church of the Sacred Heart and the Chapel of the Luises, located in the heart of Seville. The contract for the transfer of these temples from the Archdiocese of Seville to the Hermandad was concluded this morning.

The contract, signed in the presence of the notary Pablo Gutiérrez-Alviz and Conradi, was formalized by the priest Joaquín Barrero, representing the Company of Jesus, and by the brother mayor of the Hermandad de los Javieres, José Antonio Oliert Rodríguez. Numerous officials of the governing board of the corporation attended the signing.

By virtue of this agreement, the Company of Jesus grants the Hermandad the free transfer of both temples for an initial period of forty years. During this time, the Javieres will assume responsibility for the management, conservation, and maintenance of both temples.

Since 1977, this temple has not permanently housed any Hermandad. The return of the church to the Javieres marks the recovery of a space loaded with memory and devotion for the Hermandad. This step is undoubtedly one of the most important moments in the history of the Hermandad de los Javieres.

The vice-postulator of the canonization cause of father Tarín will be allowed to attend the devotees during the opening hours of the temple. Devotion by the faithful to the sepulcher of the venerable father Tarín will be favoured. The Hermandad will facilitate the celebration of the commemorative Eucharist of his death anniversary, every December 12.

The corporation has full autonomy to decide the location of its titles. The Javieres' desire to return to their foundational headquarters has finally come true. With this, the church of the Sacred Heart, which has been closed for worship for many years, will once again open its doors to the faithful.
