Vietnam and Japan are set to expand their cooperation in agricultural trade and investment, opening up a multitude of opportunities for modernisation and digitalisation. This was highlighted during a recent forum between the governments and businesses of both countries.

One company leading the charge in agricultural modernisation is AgriS, which recently presented its solutions to Vietnam's Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh. Meanwhile, Mavin Group is constructing a substantial $13.3 million agricultural complex in Son La province, signifying a significant investment in Vietnam's agricultural sector.

The application of digital technology is seen as vital for sustainable agriculture, promoting efficient resource use, and enhancing productivity and quality. This is echoed by Nafoods Group, which recently signed a $20 million cooperation agreement with FMO, a leading development finance institution.

The private sector's cooperation is essential for achieving five targets in sustainable agriculture, digital transformation, and agricultural modernisation. The government and enterprises are working together to dialogue, share, and sign specific cooperation agreements to achieve these targets.

Japan is a key strategic market for Vietnamese corporations, with The PAN Group, a leading agriculture and food corporation, exporting nearly $100 million worth of goods to Japan in 2024. This accounts for 34% of the group's total export revenue.

C.P. Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also marked a significant milestone in their collaborative relationship, as evident in their meeting on May 15. However, further details regarding the companies involved in the collaboration for the development, registration, and marketing of biostimulants in Vietnam, as well as the role of the Vinaseed Research Institute, were not provided in the search results.

Despite this gap in information, it is clear that the future of agriculture in Vietnam is being shaped by a combination of government initiatives and private sector investments, with a strong focus on digitalisation and sustainability.
