Japan makes a significant advancement in racing as unbeaten juvenile Realize Sirius wins the Poetic Flare competition in Japan, clinching victory without defeat.
Poetic Flare's Progeny Shines in Japan as Realize Sirius Wins Niigata Nisai Stakes
In a thrilling race at the Niigata Racecourse in Japan, Realize Sirius, a horse sired by Poetic Flare, secured a victory in the Grade 3 Niigata Nisai Stakes. This marks the first winner of Poetic Flare in Japan, adding to the growing success of the stallion's progeny.
Poetic Flare, a son of Dawn Approach, made a name for himself four years ago when he won the 2000 Guineas in a blanket finish. Trained, owned, and bred by Jim Bolger, Poetic Flare has since been standing for a private fee for the last two seasons. His first book in Japan saw only 37 registered foals, but the quality of his offspring is evident.
Realize Sirius, one of three runners and two scorers out of the winning Stay Gold mare Red Mirabel, demonstrated his potential in the one-mile event. He tracked the pace set by Photon Geyser before drawing clear in the closing stages to secure the victory. Red Mirabel is a half-sister to Tokyo Grade 2 winner Lelouch, adding pedigree to Realize Sirius's impressive performance.
Meanwhile, in Europe, Poetic Flare's former trainer, Michael McCarthy, announced that the horse would be joining the Shadai Stallion Station in Hokkaido, Japan, following his win at the St James's Palace Stakes.
Elsewhere, Darley's Pinatubo is also experiencing success with a steady trickle of black-type horses. This steady trickle is about to become a full-blown eruption, as more and more of Pinatubo's offspring continue to excel in races.
With Realize Sirius's win, the future looks bright for Poetic Flare and his progeny in Japan. As more of his offspring continue to race and win, it seems that Poetic Flare's influence in the world of horse racing is set to grow.
