Jaguar Announces Transition to Electric Vehicles by 2025

In a significant move towards electric mobility, British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar has announced its plans to become an all-electric vehicle (EV) company by 2025. This transition is part of a broader legislative push towards electric cars.

The Jaguar i-Pace name has been synonymous with an electric SUV in the past, and this trend is set to continue. The Jaguar i-Pace Crossover will be the first electric Jaguar, taking the name originally associated with the SUV. Production for the UK will end in early 2025.

Apart from the F-Pace, production of the XE, XF, F-Type, E-Pace, and electric i-Pace will also end this year. The F-Pace SUV is ending with the F-Pace 90th Anniversary Edition, marking the end of an era for the model.

Jaguar is aiming to produce a small range of luxury EVs, similar to Bentley. The luxury electric car based on the new JEA platform is scheduled for launch in 2026, featuring a range of up to 692 km and fast charging capabilities. Additionally, the all-electric Jaguar GT (Type 00), a 1000 hp four-door GT, is slated for production starting mid-2026.

Jaguar dealers will have to rely on maintenance, repair, and used car sales for a year due to the lack of new models. No new Jaguars will be available for purchase until 2026. Before that, Jaguar plans to reveal a concept EV at the end of the year. The concept EV is expected to be a four-door GT with a range of 435 miles and power pushing on 600bhp.

Private buyers have reportedly shown some reluctance towards EVs, causing challenges for car makers. However, Jaguar is optimistic about its electric future. The company is trademarking 'i' names, suggesting future electric models.

After the concept EV and the launch of the electric SUV similar to the Bentayga and a big luxury four-door saloon, Jaguar aims to deliver electric cars to remain competitive in the ever-evolving automotive industry. The company's huge profits, primarily from Land Rover and Range Rover, are possibly allowing this reimagining project. Jaguar is seeking much smaller sales numbers for their new range.

Despite the challenges, Jaguar remains committed to its electric transition. The company is planning to reveal more details about its future EV lineup in the coming months. The end of an era for internal combustion engine Jaguars is near, but a new chapter in electric luxury is on the horizon.
