ITV1's upcoming serial killer drama, derived from a top-seller, will see Helen Baxendale in the lead role
The small screen is set to welcome a new major drama with the arrival of ITV1's "The Dark." Based on GR Halliday's hit debut novel, "From the Shadows," this suspenseful series promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Filming for "The Dark" is currently underway in and around Glasgow, and the drama boasts an impressive cast. Alongside Helen Baxendale, Emun Elliott, and Laura Donnelly, stars such as Taylor Kitsch, Tom Hopper, Robert Wisdom, Rona Morrison, Cal MacAninch, Stella Gonet, Phil McKee, Tunji Kasim, and Catherine McCormack are also part of the ensemble.
Emun Elliott takes on the role of Bethany Adams, a character whose son has mysteriously gone missing. Meanwhile, Laura Donnelly portrays Detective Monica, who becomes entangled in a game of cat and mouse with a cunning killer. The identity of the actor playing Barclay Adams, another character, has yet to be revealed.
As the plot unfolds, the body of a young man is found in the Scottish wilderness, leading Detective Monica to suspect a terrifying campaign is underway. Paranoia rises as suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, with locals starting to realise that a serial killer may be hidden amongst them. The campaign is suspected to strike the heart of a rural community, causing fear and uncertainty to spread.
Mark Rowley plays Detective Connor Crawford in "The Dark," adding another layer of intrigue to the story. As the investigation deepens, Monica Kennedy finds herself in a race against time to uncover the truth before more lives are lost.
