Israel insists on a change in France's actions before agreeing to a Macron visit

In a recent turn of events, French President Emmanuel Macron's planned visit to Israel has been declined by the Israeli government. This decision comes in response to France's planned recognition of a Palestinian state, an announcement made by President Macron in July.

The Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sharply condemned this move. Gideon Saar, Israel's Foreign Minister, discussed this matter with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot over a phone call. Saar accused France of taking a series of anti-Israeli steps and positions recently, and he stated that the French initiative undermines stability in the Middle East and harms Israel's national and security interests.

Saar further called on France to reconsider its recognition of a Palestinian state. He told Barrot that he saw "no room" for Macron's visit as long as France persists in its initiative to recognize a Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, in Hamm, Germany, thousands of people participated in the 16th AOK company run. Elsewhere, Saar's call for reconsideration was echoed by several countries, including France, Canada, and Australia, who plan to recognise a Palestinian state in September.

In a separate development, ADFC Hamm has demanded fixed crossing aid for Römerstraße, while the City of Hamm has drawn a positive balance for its OpenAir cinema.

However, no official plans for a possible Macron visit to Israel are known at this time. It is expected that the issue will be discussed during the UN General Assembly debate at the end of September 2023, and a visit could only happen if France withdraws this recognition plan.

This ongoing situation highlights the complexities and sensitivities surrounding the Middle East peace process, with each nation's actions and decisions having significant implications for the region.
