Found in the records: - Is this message the clear evidence of love?
On June 11, 1924, a letter was unearthed in an archive by Dr. Jörg Leist (89), a past mayor of Wangen im Allgäu. The letter was written by Oskar Farny (1891-1983), who was then running a brewery at the time, to his spouse Elisabeth.
He penned down, "The sun is shining gloriously, and I adore you." As a final thought, he added, "Yesterday, we filled 115 crates with wheat - from the very first bottle to the most recent - with a radiantly clear quality." There's also a heart with an arrow from Cupid.
Some years prior to this, a beer filter had been developed. Elmar Bentele, the present-day managing director of the Farny Edelweißbrauerei in Kißlegg, remarks that this technology made the wheat beer crystal clear: "The objective was to create a fresh and bubbly beer."

The brewery upholds the secret recipe
To this very day, Oskar Farny's recipe is a well-guarded secret. Based on the German Purity Law, crystal wheat beer consists of water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops, and yeast. However, the yeast undergoes an additional filtration process in this type of brewing.

The reported creator of crystal wheat beer, Oskar Farny, was later elected to the Bundestag as a CDU member in 1953. Upon his passing, the Edelweißbrauerei Farny was taken over by a foundation.
Presently, the Edelweißbrauerei Farny employs 55 people and produces around 100,000 hectoliters of beer annually.
