The Regensburg County Administration is set to participate in the 6th Bavarian Dementia Week, a series of events organised by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention, from September 19 to 28, 2025.

Dementia, a significant challenge for those affected and their relatives, is a growing concern as society ages. In the age group of over 90s, more than one in three people today show symptoms of dementia, and around 270,000 people in Bavaria are currently affected by a dementia-related illness.

County Councilor Tanja Schweiger emphasises the importance of early support for people with dementia and their relatives. To this end, the Regensburg County Administration, department "Help in difficult life situations - Care support point Plus", is offering three events in collaboration with the Catholic Adult Education during the Dementia Week.

On September 24, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:30 PM, an event titled "Memory Box - Our Treasure Chest" will be held for creating a memory box with dementia patients and their relatives. This interactive session aims to help individuals preserve cherished memories and connect with their loved ones.

On September 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, a lecture titled "Stay Mentally Fit - Preventing Dementia with 10 Measures" will be given by Gerlinde Weigert. This informative session will provide attendees with practical advice on how to maintain mental fitness and potentially reduce the risk of developing dementia.

On September 26, 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00 AM, a lecture titled "Dementia in the Hospital" will be given by Anton Stiglmaier, specialist nurse in the emergency department at the University Hospital Regensburg. This session will provide insights into the care and management of dementia patients in a hospital setting.

All events will take place at the Regensburg County Administration, Altmühlstraße 3, 93059 Regensburg, in the Large Conference Room, Room 4.035. Interested parties are cordially invited to inform themselves or participate in these events. For questions or registration for the respective event, contact Mrs. García Jociles at telephone 0941/ 4009-531 or by email at [email protected].

The Regensburg County Administration is participating in the Dementia Week in collaboration with the Catholic Adult Education in the Regensburg region. Early support can improve participation opportunities, prevent isolation, and relieve families. By attending these events, individuals can gain valuable knowledge and resources to support those affected by dementia.
