Investigators encounter challenges in the investigation concerning the deceased driver of the church
In a shocking incident, Efren Banaglorioso, a resident of Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, was gunned down in broad daylight on August 24, 2025. The tragic event unfolded in front of the Bacolod Cosmopolitan Church Incorporated in Purok 6, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.
Efren, a 59-year-old church driver, had just exited the church and was standing beside the road when a black Mitsubishi Montero pulled up. An unidentified gunman alighted from the backseat of the vehicle and shot the victim seven times with an unidentified firearm. The perpetrator then swiftly fled the scene.
The victim died at the crime scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators from Police Station 6 are gathering evidence to determine the identities of the perpetrators, but as of yet, no leads have been found. The group behind the Mitsubishi Montero is believed to be the New People's Army (NPA).
Authorities, represented by an unspecified authority named Pugoy, are considering two possible motives for the killing: mistaken identity or personal grudges. However, it's not ruled out that Efren had enemies. It's important to note that Efren had no negative record in Barangay Granada or with the Bacolod City Police Office.
Six empty shells and a slug from an unidentified firearm were recovered at the crime scene. Pugoy is urging anyone with knowledge of the killing to come forward and provide information about the incident. The perpetrators of the heinous crime remain unidentified, and the investigation continues.
