The technical advisors for the commission include digital censorship all-stars such as Renee DiResta, Joan Donovan, Thomas Rid, Yoel Roth, Nathaniel Gleicher, and others.
The list of commissioners includes notable figures like Katie Couric, Prince Harry, Chris Krebs, and Kate Starbird of the University of Washington. It is worth noting that Starbird was a central figure in recent media features condemning congressional and journalistic investigations of anti-disinfo programs.
The Aspen Institute, an influential civil society group, receives funding from several federal agencies. On April 22, 2021, the Aspen Institute announced the creation of the Commission on Information Disorder. The commission was established to address the issue of "information disorder."
Despite Kasparov's resignation, the commission continues its work, aiming to identify and prioritize the sources and causes of information disorder. The commission's efforts are crucial in these times when the public's trust in information is more important than ever.
