Robbery Attempt at Discount Store in Scholven, Gelsenkirchen

On the evening of July 16, 2025, a retail store in Scholven, Gelsenkirchen was targeted by a group of four masked individuals. The incident occurred shortly before closing time on Scheideweg Street.

According to the police, two suspects entered the store, one brandishing a knife and the other a stun gun. A 54-year-old employee from Dorsten was threatened with a knife and demanded to open the cash register and go to the safe. Another employee, a 30-year-old from Bottrop, was also threatened with a stun gun and faced the same demands.

Fortunately, the victims were not physically harmed, but were threatened during the incident. The branch manager, a 28-year-old from Gladbeck, intervened, causing the suspects to flee without any loot. Two suspects fled towards a nearby park, and one suspect fled on an e-scooter towards Gladbeck.

An ambulance was called to provide medical care for the injured 54-year-old employee. The suspects were described as being between 17 and 25 years old, with two suspects wearing dark or black clothing, and one wearing a red jacket and jeans.
