Investigation launched on taxi drivers' theft incidents
In the heart of Cologne city center, on the evening of April 27, 2025, a 79-year-old taxi driver was the victim of a violent attack. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM, during a dispute over payment in the "In der Burgmauer" street.
The suspect, described as approximately 35 years old, 1.80 meters tall, with an unkempt appearance, was wearing a black hoodie with an orange hood, a dark jacket, and a mustache. The suspect requested to be driven from Bergisch Gladbach to the Appellhofplatz in Cologne.
During the course of the dispute, the suspect attacked the taxi driver with pepper spray. After the attack, the suspect stole the driver's wallet and fled the scene.
The Cologne Police are currently searching for the suspect and are seeking the public's help in locating them. Witnesses with information about the incident or the suspect's identity and/or whereabouts are asked to contact the Criminal Commission 14 at 0221 229-0 or by email at [email protected].
