Investigating the Resurrection: Saskia Vogel discusses the revival of Erotic Review
In the vibrant city of Berlin, the iconic Erotic Review magazine is making a comeback with a fresh, progressive concept and a new thrice-yearly print format. The magazine, which was first published in the 1990s, is now under the leadership of Lucy Roeber, who took over from its original editor, Jamie Maclean, after his retirement.
Lucy Roeber and Saskia Vogel, the new deputy editor, were introduced by a mutual friend. Together, they aim to capture the current state of erotic discourse and integrate sex as a topic with all aspects of life. The magazine aspires to create a community and be a place for great writing on the erotic.
The debut issue of the relaunched magazine features local talent from Berlin, including Vijay Khurana, Judy Moore, Rebecca Rukeyser, and more. Fatos Ustek, an acclaimed art curator, is the art curator for this first issue. Studio Frith is also part of the new leadership team for the magazine.
The magazine's website, ermagazine.com, provides more information about the relaunched Erotic Review. The first issue of the relaunched magazine will launch at Lettreฬtage on April 22. The launch event will include readings, a party, and a community-oriented atmosphere. Contributors from the current and future issues of the magazine will be featured at the event.
Berlin's emphasis in the magazine is due to the city's reputation as a queer city with a lot of sexual expression and identity exploration. In an ideal world, the magazine could become obsolete as the conversation about sex and the erotic becomes integrated with the rest of human experience.
The new team behind the Erotic Review magazine is working towards making the publication profitable and self-sustaining. They aspire to capture the zeitgeist of erotic discourse in the modern world, creating a platform for open, honest, and thought-provoking discussions about sex and its role in our lives.
