Investigating the Deputy's Scandal: Uncovering the Underlying Reason Behind Ivanov's Controversy

In a recent development, Alexander Ivanov, deputy of Il Tumen, found himself in a challenging situation after giving an interview to a Turkish blogger discussing Yakutia's independence. Despite efforts by the party "New People" to sideline him, Ivanov's status as a deputy remains unchanged.

Ivanov, who was taken under the wing of "New People", expressed feelings of comfort in Russia while discussing the development of Yakutia's statehood and its bright future. However, his comments about Yakutia's situation being similar to that of the Uighurs and Native Americans, and his statements suggesting that the Yakut people are not ready for a higher level of autonomy, have sparked controversy.

Some people have concluded that Ivanov is a separatist based on the interview, although he maintains that this was not his intention. In response to the controversy, Ivanov stated that he disagrees with the party's decision to expel him from the faction, and that according to his understanding, it is impossible to exclude someone from a faction or revoke their mandate based on statements made.

The interview's questions and answers were confusing, leading to different interpretations. The "Fisherman" publication noted that Ivanov's biography is typical of "internationalists" from the 90s, with him studying in the US and UK, frequently traveling to Turkey, and his daughter living in Istanbul.

Despite the controversy, Ivanov remains a controversial figure due to his outspokenness. The interview's aftermath has seen the party's leader, Alexei Nechaev, label Ivanov a traitor and demand his expulsion from the faction. However, the party cannot revoke a deputy's mandate, and Ivanov's status as a deputy in Il Tumen remains intact.

As the situation unfolds, it will be interesting to see how Ivanov justifies his statements and navigates the controversy surrounding his interview. The future remains uncertain for both Ivanov and the party "New People".
