In the world of automobiles, August 2025 has been a month of significant developments and launches. Here's a rundown of some of the key events:

Chinese Automakers Make a Splash

Neta Automobile, a new player in the market, officially entered the Indonesian market this month. Meanwhile, Zeekr, another Chinese automaker, unveiled the Zeekr 9X, a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV priced at $80,000. This flagship vehicle boasts the world's largest PHEV battery and a 3-ton weight, showcasing Zeekr's commitment to advanced hybrid technology and strong performance specs.

Zeekr also revealed official images of the Zeekr 001 FR, a high-performance electric vehicle, and the Geely Galaxy's Starshine 6 PHEV sedan. The Zeekr 001 FR is expected to have a price tag exceeding one million yuan, while the Starshine 6 PHEV sedan is part of Geely's new energy series.

New Models and Pre-Orders

Wuling launched the Baojun Cloud, available in four models with prices ranging from 95,800 to 123,800 yuan. The Baojun Cloud saw impressive pre-sales, with over 10,000 orders placed during blind pre-ordering.

Geely's Galaxy E8, another all-electric model suspected due to its "E" prefix, was leaked online on August 10. According to previous plans, the Galaxy E8 is expected to be delivered this year.

Collaborations and Expansions

Hangzhou Ji Yu Yue Automotive Technology Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Zhejiang Geely Investment Holding Co., Ltd. and Baidu's Shanghai Mi Hang Automotive Co., Ltd., was established on August 9. Zhang Quan, Senior Vice President of Geely Holding Group, is the legal representative and executive director of this new company, with Xia Yiping, CEO of Jidu Auto, serving as the general manager.

Neta Automobile has also expanded its presence, establishing a European division and a Thai subsidiary.

Debuts and Updates

The Lynk & Co 07 and 08 models were officially revealed in China with LiDAR sensor updates. Zeekr Intelligent Technology, the company behind the Zeekr brand, also announced that the Baojun Cloud, Wuling's latest model, was officially launched on August 10.

At the Indonesia International Motor Show, the Neta S, Neta U-II, and Neta V models made their first appearance.
