BMW Unveils Sustainable Production and Innovative Features in New iX3

BMW has made a significant stride in sustainability with the opening of its new production facility in Debrecen, Hungary, where the BMW iX3 is manufactured. This state-of-the-art factory is powered entirely by renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, and is expected to operate without the use of fossil fuels like oil and gas.

The debut of the BMW iX3 was showcased at the IAA Mobility show in Munich in 2023. The model designation takes over from its predecessor, marking a new era for BMW's SUV lineup.

The iX3 boasts an all-wheel drive system, with a system power of 345 kW (470 PS) and torque of 645 Nm. The cockpit architecture is a complete overhaul, featuring an 110-centimeter-wide display at the lower edge of the windshield. This innovative design houses the Panoramic iDrive, which was premiered at the CES trade fair in Las Vegas earlier this year.

The Panoramic iDrive sorts driving-relevant information and infotainment displays into three levels, providing a seamless user experience. The central control device for regulating the drive and dynamics is named "Heart of Joy".

The iX3's cockpit also features four central computer elements, called "super brains", and a fixed bar at the bottom of the cockpit for quick access to climate functions, navigation, and telephony. The latest version of BMW Operating System X enables quick responses, ensuring a smooth and efficient driving experience.

The rear space in the iX3 is particularly appealing, offering ample legroom and headroom for passengers. The battery is not in a large box as part of the underbody, providing a generously designed interior floor.

BMW has also made strides in reducing the CO2 emissions for the production of the new iX3, with emissions expected to be reduced by about two-thirds compared to production in other factories. This commitment to sustainability extends across the entire value chain of new models, as demonstrated by the construction of the Debrecen factory.

In addition to its sustainable production and innovative design, the iX3 also offers over-the-air updates and an optional head-up display. The app store currently offers 60 apps for the iX3, and all commands can be executed via finger touch or voice control.

The iX3 is part of BMW's new vehicle generation named Neue Klasse, which stands for a new beginning for BMW, following the success of a previous generation introduced in the 1960s. With the iX3, BMW continues to push the boundaries of innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry.
