Intoxicated Motorists Behind the Wheel
In a series of incidents over Monday afternoon and Tuesday night, three drivers in the Rhein-Erft district were stopped by the police for erratic driving and suspected alcohol intoxication.
On Monday afternoon in Hürth-Efferen, a 71-year-old driver was pulled over for suspected alcohol intoxication. The driver, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was found to have an alcohol level of nearly 1.00 per thousand. A doctor took a blood sample from the driver at a police station.
Later that day, around 1:40 AM on Tuesday, a 55-year-old driver was stopped for driving erratically and on the wrong side of the road on the Berliner Ring in Kerpen-Sindorf. The driver showed signs of impaired balance, delayed pupil reaction, slurred speech, and a strong alcohol odor. A doctor also took a blood sample from this driver at a police station.
On Tuesday night in Bergheim, a 35-year-old driver was stopped by police for erratic driving and crossing into the opposite lane. Officers found that the driver did not have a valid driver's license. The driver's alcohol test result was approximately 2.7 per thousand.
In all three cases, police prohibited the drivers from continuing their journey and filed reports. These incidents occurred in Hürth, Bergheim, and Kerpen.
