Magdeburg, August 18, 2025 — The city administration of Magdeburg has announced a survey on outdoor dining and advertising facilities in the Domviertel and Breiten Weg/Kepplerstraße, aiming to enhance the cityscape and public spaces in the Magdeburg city center.
The survey, which will take place from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Tuesday, will focus on determining what fits well into the area, what might still be needed, and what could potentially have disruptive effects on public space. The survey will be conducted in an area rich in historical buildings, squares, green spaces, and city districts of architectural quality, with boundaries that extend from Große Klosterstraße and Leiterstraße to the north, the Elbe riverbank and Steubenallee to the east, Sternstraße to the south, and the area between Sternstraße and Bahnhofsstraße to the west.
The results of the survey will be considered in the design concept for the preservation area "Domplatz/Southern City Center". The responsible institution for drafting the concept based on the survey results regarding outdoor dining and advertising areas in the Domplatz/Southern City Center area is the City of Münster's Department for Urban Development and Planning.
The city administration emphasizes that advertising and outdoor dining contribute significantly to a vibrant and colorful cityscape in the area. Simultaneously, they are seeking active participation from the public in the survey, making it a part of a larger initiative to improve the city center.
