Internet Swindlers Back in Action, Polish Authorities Warn
In a recent development, the Police Headquarters Westpfalz has issued a warning following reported fraud incidents on online trading platforms. Two individuals, a 23-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man from Kaiserslautern, experienced fraud while selling items on separate platforms.
The fraudsters, claiming to have already paid the purchase price, provided a link to "PayPal" as proof. Unfortunately, clicking on this link gave the fraudsters access to the sellers' accounts, allowing them to initiate several transfers, resulting in damages of several hundred euros.
These incidents serve as a reminder for everyone to be particularly vigilant when dealing with payment processes on online trading platforms. The police's advice is applicable to private purchases and sales on these platforms and is not specific to any particular platform.
The police urge caution, especially during payment processes, to prevent similar fraud incidents from occurring. The criminal police have initiated an investigation into these incidents, and the public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The advice was transmitted via news aktuell. For press inquiries, please contact the Police Headquarters Westpfalz at Phone: 0631 369-10022, Email: [email protected], or visit their website at www.polizei.rlp.de/westpfalz.
The police headquarters Westpfalz has also been investigating several suspects involved in alleged fraud on online trading platforms. The public is reminded to verify the authenticity of links and communications before proceeding with any transactions.
Stay safe and vigilant while transacting online.
