The countdown to the 27th Women's World Handball Championship has begun, with the event scheduled to take place from November 26 to December 14, 2025. Co-hosted by Germany and the Netherlands, the championship will see some of the world's best handball teams compete in a series of thrilling matches.

In Dortmund, the main round and the quarterfinals will take place at the Westfalenhalle, with the German national team set to face some tough competition. Notable opponents include the Netherlands, ranked higher than Germany internationally, and the likes of France, Hungary, and Chile.

Coach Markus Gaugisch is urging fans to create a positive atmosphere for the players, asking for loud support to boost morale. To this end, the German Handball Association (DHB) has launched the "Hands up for more" initiative, aiming to promote women and girls in handball.

The DHB, along with coach Gaugisch and four German players, are on site to create visibility and approachability, engaging with fans and encouraging them to get behind the team.

Mayor Thomas Westphal of Dortmund emphasises the importance of handball in the city, highlighting Dortmund's "nationally unique sports mile" which includes football, ice hockey, athletics, and handball. To make the event more accessible, combination tickets for the Dortmunder WM games in Dortmund include free use of bus and train during the event period.

DSW21, a main sponsor of the Handball World Cup in Dortmund, has designed six buses for advertising and is also sponsoring over 2000 jerseys for employees to wear during their shifts. The company has also set up a Fan Village near the playing venue in Dortmund, offering entertainment and catering.

The Fan Village will include a photo spot, mascot, a DJ, and many interactive activities, providing fans with an enjoyable experience alongside the action on the court.

The summer training camp will be completed before the game against the Netherlands in Krefeld, ensuring the team is well-prepared for the crucial matches in Dortmund. Each day of the main round in Dortmund will feature three games, and a theme is planned for each day.

As of now, 35% of the tickets for the Women's World Championship have been sold, with tickets available for purchase at worldhandball25.com. Each daily ticket costs 15 euros, and a main round ticket is priced at 49 euros.

The next event of "Hands up for more" will take place on August 23 before the German Football Museum in Dortmund, further promoting the event and encouraging more women and girls to get involved in handball.

With the event fast approaching, fans are encouraged to show their support for the German national team and experience the excitement of the Women's World Handball Championship in Dortmund.
