International Performance: Orchestra Collaboration Between Russia and China in Yakutsk

The Russia-China Orchestra, a unique ensemble that blends Chinese, Russian, and Yakut instruments, will be performing at the State Opera and Ballet Theater named after Sourun Omolloon on September 30. This concert is a significant event, marking a collaboration between multiple orchestras and featuring an exclusive repertoire.

The performance is organised by the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts (ASICA) and the Harbin Conservatory, under the framework of the Russia-China Musical Union. The Musical Union is a cooperation between Russia and China, and ASICA signed an agreement for this union with the Harbin Conservatory in China in 2013.

The Russia-China Orchestra, established in 2024, will include the Far Eastern Youth Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments and the Harbin Conservatory Chinese Folk Orchestra. The orchestra will consist of around 90 performers, including students, teachers, and distinguished Chinese artists.

The concert will be conducted by two conductors: Nikolay Pikutsky and Suo Shue. Pikutsky, the rector of ASICA, is known for his work in the field of Russian music, while Suo Shue is a renowned Chinese conductor.

The repertoire for the concert has been specially composed to symbolize the unity of the global world and the harmony of nations. It will feature exclusive compositions and arrangements by authors such as Yefrem Podgayts, Mikhail Bronner, and Vyacheslav Semenov. There will also be premieres of new works during the performance.

The Harbin Conservatory Chinese Folk Orchestra will be part of the joint performance, adding a distinct Chinese touch to the concert. This joint performance is a part of a larger cooperation between ASICA and the Harbin Conservatory, as defined by the Russia-China Musical Union agreement in 2023.

This concert is not just a performance; it is a testament to the growing cultural ties between Russia and China. It promises to be a memorable event, showcasing the best of both nations' musical talent and traditions.
