International gathering for gaming enthusiasts – led by women – set to occur for the first time!

In a groundbreaking move, Women in Gaming Africa (WiG Africa) is set to make its first international appearance at the SBC Summit Lisbon, Portugal, marking a significant step forward in African representation and inclusion within the global gaming industry. This partnership with the SBC Summit 2025, one of the industry's leading international conferences, will bring African women and the continent's expanding gaming ecosystem into the global spotlight for the first time[1][2].

The event, WiG Africa x SBC Networking Drinks, Lisbon Edition, will take place on Day One of SBC Summit Lisbon, offering a welcoming, open space for cross-continental relationships and new conversations[3]. This strategic partnership links WiG Africa to an extensive network of global gaming industry leaders, innovators in payments, fintech, and affiliate marketing. SBC’s Summit attracts about 30,000 delegates, making it a high-profile platform for African voices[1][2].

Lois Bright, founder of WiG Africa, emphasized the symbolic nature of this event, stating that it is more than a networking session; it's a powerful act of inclusion demonstrating global acknowledgement of African contributions to gaming[1]. The event offers African women and stakeholders opportunities to connect with international counterparts, share best practices, and participate in workshops such as the “Operator Academy” to build industry skills[1][2].

Highlighting Africa’s creative spirit and rapidly expanding gaming market helps position the continent as a key player within global discussions on emerging markets, player protection, and gaming innovation[1][2]. This event signifies a major step forward in WiG Africa's mission to elevate African women and allies in the gaming space[4].

Further details on timings, special guests, and participation in the event will be announced[5]. Notable speakers include Borah Omary, who will discuss taxation and gray markets in Africa's iGaming industry[6].

Special thanks go to Sue Schneider, Natalie Lees, Dennis Algreen, and Rebecca Koçar for their roles in initiating and organizing the event[7]. This independent event is not part of the Africa Stage at the SBC Summit Lisbon[8]. The networking session will occur immediately after the conclusion of the Africa Stage at the conference[9].

This milestone event underscores the growing influence of African voices in the global gaming industry and the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation and growth.
