Discover the rich history and urban development of Lünen as you join Gabriele Germer for a fascinating tour titled "Old Meets New" on September 7th, 2025.
The tour, which begins at 3 pm at the town hall, Willy-Brandt-Platz, will take you on a captivating journey through the southern city centre. Gabriele Germer, your knowledgeable guide, will showcase how urban development has evolved throughout the 20th century and delve into the historical roots of the city.
One of the highlights of the tour will be a visit to St. Georg's Church, a significant landmark in Lünen's religious life. You'll also get a chance to explore historical streets, alleys, and medieval buildings, as well as take a detour to the southern Lippe riverbank.
Germer will also discuss how newer structures like the town hall and Scharoun School were influenced by democratic ideals, offering unique insights into Lünen's architectural evolution.
The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and is open to all ages, with children and youth under 15 able to participate for free. The fee for the tour is 5 euros per person, payable directly to the guide.
