Intensive bombardments in Gaza leave 25 dead, aimed at schools and residential areas, exacerbating the prevailing predicament

In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, the enclave of Gaza continues to bear the brunt of the violence. Over the past few days, several incidents of civilian casualties have been reported.

On Friday, the Israeli army launched strikes on an abandoned house in the Khan Younis refugee camp, injuring several Palestinians. The same day, a water desalination plant in Asdaa, western Khan Younis, was hit, injuring displaced civilians who were waiting for water.

The Israeli military's actions have resulted in a significant loss of life. At least 25 people have been killed across Gaza since early Friday. This tragedy is not a recent development; since October 2023, over 62,100 Palestinians have lost their lives due to the Israeli army's military campaign.

The international community has taken notice of these events. Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with the enclave currently facing a famine due to the devastation caused by the military campaign. The ICC's actions are not the only international intervention; Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its war on Gaza.

The civilian population continues to suffer. Two Palestinians were killed and five others injured in a residential apartment in the Nuseirat refugee camp due to Israeli suicide drone attacks. In Gaza City's Sheikh Ridwan neighborhood, 12 civilians, including women and children, were killed and dozens wounded when Israeli artillery shelled a school sheltering hundreds of displaced families.

The Israeli army has also targeted residential buildings. In the Sabra neighborhood, a residential building was hit, killing a Palestinian couple and their two daughters. Another house in the same neighborhood was struck, killing and injuring several others.

The Israeli army has shown little regard for civilian safety, carrying out bombardments near a mosque and a medical center in the Sabra neighborhood. The violence has claimed more lives, with a mother and her son killed in Israeli aircraft strikes in the Sabra neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City.

In a separate incident, five members of one family, three of them children, were killed in a strike on a tent camp for the displaced. The ongoing violence and loss of life underscore the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict.
