Intense to Extremely Intense Rainfall Forecasted in Telangana, Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan; Delhi-NCR Anticipated to Stay Cloudy with Slight Rain, According to IMD
In the coming days, several regions of India are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, according to meteorological predictions.
Starting with Coastal Karnataka, isolated extremely heavy rain is forecasted from the 29th of August to the 3rd of September, with heavy to very heavy rainfall elsewhere during the same period. Interior Karnataka is expected to receive very heavy rain at isolated places on the 29th of August. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also in the path of heavy rain, with Tamil Nadu expected to receive very heavy rain at isolated places on the 29th of August, and Kerala receiving isolated heavy rain on the 29th of August, and light to moderate rain elsewhere on the 29th of August, 2nd, and 3rd of September.
Northeast India is not left out of the forecast, with Arunachal Pradesh experiencing isolated heavy rainfall on the 29th - 30th of August, Assam & Meghalaya on the 29th of August, 1st - 2nd of September, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura on the 29th of August, 1st - 2nd of September, and Odisha from the 31st of August to the 3rd of September.
The low-pressure area, along with a shear zone along 17°N, is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of South India. This includes regions such as Telangana, which is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on the 29-30th of August, and coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, which are expected to receive isolated heavy rain on the 3rd of September.
Northwest India will also experience heavy rainfall in the coming days. West Rajasthan is forecasted to experience isolated heavy rainfall on the 30th - 31st of August, Jammu, Kashmir, Punjab, and Haryana on the 29th of August to the 2nd of September, Uttarakhand on the 29th of August, 1st, and 2nd of September, West Uttar Pradesh on the 31st of August - 2nd of September, East Rajasthan on the 31st of August, and East Uttar Pradesh on the 1st - 2nd of September.
Madhya Maharashtra is expected to receive very heavy rain over Ghat areas on the 29th of August, while Konkan & Goa are expected to receive very heavy rain at isolated places on the 29th of August, and Gujarat is expected to receive isolated heavy rain from the 29th of August to the 3rd of September.
The western regions of India are also under the influence of the monsoon trough, with isolated heavy rainfall forecasted for other regions. Farmers and residents in low-lying areas are advised to take precautions in South India, as frequent spells of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected across South India, East and Central India, and West India in the coming days.
In Delhi/NCR, the weather forecast predicts very light to light rain or thundershowers at few places from the 29th of August to the 31st of August. Maximum temperatures will hover between 30-35°C, slightly below normal, while minimum temperatures are expected between 22-25°C. Winds will predominantly blow from the southeast direction at speeds ranging from 10-22 kmph.
A low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal has weakened into a low-pressure area over south Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh, which could potentially influence the rainfall patterns in the region. Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Vidarbha on the 29th of August, and scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for the regions including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.
