Intense Focus on the Westerwald Region

On a sunny Sunday in September, the Wied Park Hall in Neustadt/Wied played host to the Nature Enjoyment-Regional Market, marking the third instalment of the Weser Hills Nature Enjoyment-Regional Initiative.

Approximately 30 providers, ranging from agricultural businesses and restaurateurs to manufacturers and regional institutions, showcased the culinary potential of the Westerwald region. The event attracted many hundreds of visitors, who came to enjoy a day filled with shopping, information, and enjoyment.

The focus of the day was on local produce, and visitors were treated to a variety of regional food and drinks. Delicious dishes such as lamb stew from Windhagen-Hohn, organic Angus beef burgers from Kaffroth, a pan of delight from Steimel, and autumnal pumpkin soup from Hausen were available for tasting and purchase.

For those with a sweet tooth, coffee and delightful cake and confectionery from Höhr-Grenzhausen provided the perfect sweet breaks during the tour. The Honey-Manufaktur Senck from Daufenbach also had a presence, presenting their variety of bee products.

Neuwied's Landrat Achim Hallerbach and Jörg Hohenadl, project leader from the Economic Development Department, welcomed guests and exhibitors at the opening. The event served as a platform for visitors to try products, buy goods from various sources, and learn about direct marketers and their offers.

The Westerwald and the Rhine Valley were showcased as a culinary region at the Nature Enjoyment-Regional Market, with the weather playing its part to make it a real culinary day for visitors of all ages and families. The event was a celebration of the region's food and drink, and a testament to the quality and diversity of its produce.
