Inquiry underway in France regarding the passing of an influencer, who suffered humiliation and physical attacks during a live stream by online gamers

In a shocking turn of events, the Prosecutor's Office in Nice has launched an investigation into the death of Raphaël Graven, a popular influencer known as Jean Pormanove. The news has sent ripples across France and Europe, with authorities planning several interrogations in connection with the case.

Raphaël Graven, who had over half a million followers on social media, was found lifeless on Sunday night. The initial scene of his death showed no suspicious signs, but the subsequent events have raised alarming questions.

Reports suggest that Raphaël Graven was subjected to months of humiliation and abuse during live streams on the Kick platform. Other influencers allegedly participated in these streams, where he was physically and verbally abused. Images showing men seemingly trying to wake up Raphaël Graven were published on the platform, leading authorities to launch a criminal investigation.

The publication of these images has reignited the debate about the role of platforms in the dissemination of violent or degrading content in France. Clara Chappaz, the Secretary of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy, has condemned the circumstances of Raphaël Graven's death and emphasised the responsibility of platforms for what they broadcast, as mandated by law.

Clara Chappaz has also called for the intervention of the public platform Pharos and the audiovisual regulator Arcom. She stated that such harmful consequences, like the one experienced by Raphaël Graven, have no place in France or Europe.

The French Government has also condemned Raphaël Graven's death as "horrible". The autopsy of his body has not yet been performed, and the cause of his death remains undetermined. The responsible person of the French Constitutional Court who addressed the jurisdiction issue concerning the death of Raphaël Graven and the dissemination of violent content on the Kick platform has not been named.

The images shared on Kick were eventually removed, but the damage has already been done. The audience reacted in real time during the live streams where Raphaël Graven was humiliated and abused. As the investigation continues, the public awaits answers and justice for Raphaël Graven.
