New Turbidity Sensor and Transmitter Offer Innovative Water Treatment Solution

In a recent product launch, Georg Fischer (GF) Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions unveiled the Type 4170 Inline Turbidity Sensor, a modern solution for industrial and municipal water treatment. Luca Barz, Global Product Manager at GF, commented on the launch.

The Type 4170 Inline Sensor is designed to provide stable and precise measurements in water with varying turbidity levels, from ultra-clear to extremely turbid. Its robust, compact design, proven optical performance, and compliance with ISO 7027 make it ideal for water treatment and process control.

One of the key features of the Type 4170 Inline Sensor is its angled measurement head and stable NIR (near-infrared) light source, which ensure accurate readings even in tight spaces. It also requires less cleaning effort compared to previous online sensors, reducing maintenance requirements.

The inline construction of the Type 4170 Inline Sensor minimizes bubble formation and eliminates delays or deposits often seen in bypass systems. This design also reduces maintenance needs by eliminating parts like flow cells, lamps, and complex piping.

The Type 4170 Sensor's performance remains high at both low and high turbidity values due to its advanced multi-point factory calibration. When used with the Type 8640 Transmitter, this solution offers experts in water treatment a cost-effective, low-maintenance, and highly precise measurement solution.

The Type 8640 Transmitter, developed for compatibility with the Type 4170 Sensor, provides a complete solution for monitoring. Its color touchscreen supports real-time data display and easy configuration. Retrofittable modules for Modbus RTU, Profibus DP, and ProfiNet IO ensure necessary flexibility for integration.

The Type 8640 Transmitter is ready for today's challenges and tomorrow's regulatory requirements, as per Luca Barz's comments. When used with the Type 4170 Sensor, it offers a solution that integrates seamlessly into diverse water treatment systems. The Type 4170 Inline Sensor's real-time measurements further enhance this integration, providing continuous monitoring and control.

In summary, the combination of the Type 4170 Inline Turbidity Sensor and the Type 8640 Transmitter offers a cutting-edge, reliable, and cost-effective solution for water treatment and process control. With its advanced features, compact design, and ease of integration, this product is set to revolutionize the water treatment industry.
