Injured severely according to LPI-GTH report
Yesterday evening, around 11:20 PM, a road accident occurred on the L 1048 from Hohes Kreuz towards Marlishausen in the Ilm District. The incident involved a 17-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger.
The driver, operating an Aixam Moped, lost control of the vehicle after a deer crossed the road, causing him to swerve and end up in a ditch. As a result, both the driver and the passenger were seriously injured.
The accident took place near the Gotha Police Headquarters, although it is important to note that the incident occurred on the road and not within the police premises.
Emergency services were quick to respond, with the passenger being airlifted by helicopter to a nearby hospital, while the driver was taken by ambulance.
The road was temporarily closed due to the accident, causing some disruption to traffic in the area. The Aixam Moped involved in the accident is no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.
