In a heartwarming display of solidarity, a charity ice hockey game was held on June 4, 2023, at Cologne Arena 2. The event, organised to support the injured personnel of the fire department, police, and rescue services, was a resounding success.

The game featured two teams: Backdraft Cologne and the Bull Sharks of the police. The public's enthusiasm was evident as many deployed forces from Ratingen attended the game to cheer on the teams. Some of the injured deployed forces were even able to watch the game live, adding a poignant touch to the event.

The game was broadcast live, and the audience reserved special applause for the injured deployed forces, many of whom are still in serious condition. The funds raised from this charity action will benefit the injured personnel, their families, and relatives in full.

NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul, Cologne's city director Andrea Blome, Cologne's police president Schnabel, Mettmann district administrator Thomas Hendele, Ratingen's fire protection commissioner Harald Filip, and Ratingen fire chief René Schubert were among the attendees.

Cologne fire chief Dr. Miller, who played for Backdraft Cologne, was a notable participant in the game. Stefan Dahlmann, the deputy commander of the Ratingen fire department, also played a pivotal role in organising the event.
