Informed Individual Receives Details:
In an effort to enhance civil protection and ensure the safety of its citizens, the Bottrop Fire Department has announced a series of initiatives. On August 21, the department will set up a booth on the town hall square during the evening market to promote the NINA warning app and the city's Emergency Information Points (EIP).
The NINA warning app is a valuable tool that enables citizens to receive timely information about various hazard situations, such as hazardous substance dispersion, large fires, weather warnings, and flood information. The app, available in eight languages, is designed to be user-friendly and easy to understand.
At the booth, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the functions of the app, get help with installation, and increase their understanding of its importance. In addition, the fire department and city administration will be present to provide information and assistance.
The EIPs serve as points of contact in case of prolonged power outages or a complete failure of the telephone network. These points, located at 24 specific places including fire stations, schools, hospitals, and other public facilities, will also be highlighted at the booth. Citizens will be shown where their personal EIP is located, ensuring they know exactly where to go in an emergency.
The Bottrop Fire Department is committed to increasing the number of users of the NINA warning app, and they are not alone in this endeavour. The city administration, along with various organisations, will be present at the booth to support this initiative.
To further spread awareness, the municipal press office will support the event with a social media campaign over the summer. The campaign will consist of short, understandable contributions and illustrative content to engage the public and encourage more people to download the app.
As of now, around 37,000 residents of Bottrop have already installed the NINA warning app on their smartphones. By attending the booth and learning more about the app, even more citizens can take an active role in their own safety and the safety of their community.
In addition to the focus on the NINA warning app and the EIPs, the Bottrop Fire Department had an information booth about civil protection at the evening market in Kirchhellen last Friday. This previous event was successful in raising awareness and educating the public, and the upcoming event on August 21 is expected to have a similar impact.
Citizens are encouraged to visit the booth on August 21 to learn more about the NINA warning app and the EIPs, and to take an active role in their own safety and the safety of their community. By being informed and prepared, we can all work together to ensure a safer Bottrop.
