Informative gathering for private property owners: seminar on social housing opportunities
The Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) has launched a new funding program called "Housing First" in 2022, which offers various grants for new construction, acquisition, and rental of housing to private investors, welfare organizations, and member associations. This initiative is designed to improve the housing situation of homeless individuals and those at risk of homelessness.
In a joint effort to combat the housing shortages and homelessness issues in the Herford district, the city of Herford, the Wohngeldstelle (housing allowance office), the LWL, the Herford district, and the Protestant Diakoniestiftung Herford are collaborating within the state initiative "Finally a HOME!".
Private landlords who rent to those in housing need can benefit from attractive subsidies such as a rent guarantee, renovation/sanitation subsidy, climate bonus, rent premium, or a contribution towards their investment costs. Moreover, they can receive support in handling rental contracts and post-tenancy follow-up.
The group is mediating privately offered housing through social housing mediation, and more information on funding opportunities and measures within this program can be found on the Herford district's website.
An information event about the projects and measures within the social housing mediation program is taking place on 18 September at the Small Train Station in Enger. The aim of this collaboration is to establish a district-wide network of emergency housing support, and it is targeted at private landlords.
