Industry's collective investment funds surpass the 4 billion threshold.
In the dynamic world of finance, the first half of 2025 has seen some remarkable shifts in investment trends. According to the latest data, sustainable funds have experienced a significant rebound in inflows, with a total of €361 billion managed as of mid-year.
Equity funds remain the largest group, managing €576 billion, while mixed funds take the second spot with a volume of €366 billion. The data reveals that in the first six months of the year, €16.9 billion flowed into mixed funds, with €10.1 billion going into products that invest equally in equities and bonds.
Bond funds follow closely behind, attracting €1.1 billion in new business, and real estate funds come in third with €4 billion in new business. Interestingly, mixed funds, bond funds, and real estate funds have all shown a notable increase in new business compared to previous years.
The surge in sustainable fund inflows is particularly noteworthy. After a record outflow in Q1, the second quarter saw net inflows of $4.9 billion globally into sustainable funds. This recovery was largely driven by a strong rebound in European fund inflows and stable US markets.
At the beginning of the year, assets in sustainable funds accounted for 8% of the total, amounting to €459 billion. However, the assets in sustainable funds were still at €335 billion at the end of March, indicating a slower start to the year compared to the exceptional results seen in the equity funds.
Of this, €251 billion are in public funds and €110 billion are in special funds, highlighting the growing importance of sustainable investing in the public sector.
As we move forward, it will be interesting to see how these trends continue to evolve and shape the investment landscape. The rise of sustainable funds is a testament to the growing awareness and importance of sustainable investing in today's world.
