Industrial zone of Schlavenhorst in Bocholt faces concern over the use of harmful substances in operations

At 08:00 today, the Bocholt Fire Department responded to an emergency call at a logistics company located in the Schlavenhorst industrial area. Upon arrival, an unknown liquid was leaking from a truck carrying hazardous materials.

To handle the situation, firefighters from Rhede provided trained personnel to assist with chemical protection suits. The Bocholt Fire Department's drone was also deployed to survey the scene.

Investigations revealed that a damaged drum containing a flammable liquid was the cause of the leak. The incident involved 12 vehicles and 50 personnel from the Bocholt Fire Department and emergency services.

During the operation, firefighters in specialized chemical protection gear partially unloaded the truck. The damaged drum was then sealed to prevent any further hazardous material from entering the environment. The Bocholt Fire Department cordoned off the area, ensured fire protection, and contained the leaking hazardous material using a special binding agent.

After approximately three hours, the incident was successfully resolved. For inquiries, you can contact Michael Burhoff, the contact person at the Bocholt Fire Department.
