Industria & Artigianato's Breakaway Sprint Victory Secured by Isaac del Toro
In the one-day Pro Series race, GP Industria & Artigianato, the victor was none other than Isaac del Toro of UAE Team Emirates. The 196.3km race, which included ascents of Fornello and San Baronto, proved to be a challenging yet exciting event.
The race began with a breakaway, led by Christophersen and Spraefico, who managed to maintain their lead during the second ascent. However, Pierre Latour, who was part of the early breakaway, was distanced before the final ascent of San Baronto.
A new breakaway formed, consisting of Paul Double, Samuele Battistella, and Johannes Kulset. The gap between this new breakaway and the main field reduced to 40 seconds before the second ascent of San Baronto.
Meanwhile, the main field was experiencing splits due to the intense competition. Christophersen, Delgado, and Spraefico rejoin Stites and Dignani on the descent. Christophersen pulled away from the breakaway, but the gap continued to drop.
The decisive breakaway occurred on the final ascent of the San Baronto, where Christian Scaroni, Isaac del Toro, and Davide Piganzoli broke away from the peloton. Battistella was caught during the flatter sections of the circuit, leaving a reduced group of 25 riders.
Battistella led the race with a 15-second advantage over this reduced field. However, the three riders who had broken away earlier – Scaroni, del Toro, and Piganzoli – managed to break away from the reduced peloton on the last lap of the race.
In the end, it was del Toro who crossed the finish line first, securing his victory in the GP Industria & Artigianato. Scaroni finished as the runner-up, six seconds behind del Toro, while Piganzoli finished third, another six seconds behind Scaroni.
Tyler Stites and Filippo Dignani, who were part of the early breakaway, raced valiantly but ultimately finished out of the top three. This thrilling race showcased the fierce competition among the cyclists and the unpredictable nature of the sport.
