Individual seeks body art featuring a collection of book designs
In an intriguing move, Heidi Reichinnek, the parliamentary group leader of The Left Party in Berlin, has revealed her plans to get a stack of books tattooed on her skin. Reichinnek, who is known for her distinctive tattoos, including an otter, a cat, an image of Rosa Luxemburg, and a hyena on her left arm, made the announcement in an interview with "Stern" magazine.
Born in Saxony-Anhalt, Reichinnek currently resides in Osnabrück, but she recently shared that she will be moving to Berlin. The 43-year-old politician identifies as an "Ossi", a term referring to someone born in the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany).
Reichinnek's parents, who still live in Saxony-Anhalt, share many of the Left's demands with their daughter, but they express doubts about the GDR. Despite their mixed feelings about her tattoos, they have come to accept them as a part of Reichinnek's identity.
The upcoming tattoo of books is not the only addition to Reichinnek's collection. She already has a tattoo of a hyena, which she considers to be beautiful. Other tattoos are covered up in daily life, making them less visible to the public.
Reichinnek entered the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list of the Left party and has become a recognisable figure in German politics. Her tattoos have become a kind of trademark, a visual representation of her passion for reading and her commitment to the Left party's ideals.
The article about Reichinnek was first published by dpa (Deutsche Presse-Agentur) and later appeared in "Stern" magazine. As the debate around tattoos in politics continues, Reichinnek's unique approach to self-expression serves as a reminder that individuality can thrive even in the heart of political discourse.
