Indie games classics on GOG are being removed from sale - grab them quick before they disappear permanently
In the world of video game development, intrigue often swirls around the projects that are in the works, and Playdead's third game is no exception. The Danish studio, known for their critically acclaimed titles Limbo and Inside, has been working on a new game for nearly nine years.
However, recent developments have cast a shadow over the project. Playdead co-founder, Dino Patti, left the studio in 2017, shortly after the launch of Inside, and formed a new studio, Jumpship. Since then, Jumpship has launched the title Somerville in 2022.
The departure of Patti and the formation of Jumpship has led to a legal dispute between Patti and another co-founder, Arnt Jensen. Jensen alleges that Patti has exaggerated his contributions to Playdead's games, while Patti claims that Jensen is trying to erase his work on Playdead's titles.
Despite the legal dispute, Playdead continues to work on their third game. Little is known about the project, but occasional pieces of concept art have been shared, revealing a setting that appears to involve an astronaut on a strange planet covered in snow and ice.
Interestingly, Playdead's games are not being delisted on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or Steam. However, there are no available search results providing reasons for the delisting of Limbo and Inside from the GOG platform.
On a positive note, Limbo and Inside are included in Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S consoles, offering players a chance to revisit these acclaimed titles. As we wait for updates on Playdead's third game, fans of the studio can look forward to these classic games and the potential release of Somerville from Jumpship.
