India's decision to introduce Bronco in its ODI team might be aimed at impeding the professional journey of Rohit Sharma.

In the lead-up to the World Cup 2027, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has expressed concerns about the motives behind the introduction of the Bronco test in Indian cricket.

Tiwary, a keen observer of what is happening in Indian cricket, has suggested that the timing and intention behind the introduction of the Bronco test are questionable, especially as Team India nears the World Cup. The test, introduced under the charge of India's strength and conditioning coach, Adrian Le Roux, is a new fitness test in cricket that demands higher fitness standards.

The Bronco test surpasses the Yo-Yo test in terms of fitness standards and serves as a rigorous aerobic fitness assessment. It consists of five shuttle runs of 20 meters, 40 meters, and 60 meters without any breaks, aiming for more precise fitness insights. The test is designed to measure cardiovascular endurance and stamina without allowing resting periods between sessions, much like it is used primarily in sports like rugby.

Tiwary has expressed doubts about Rohit Sharma's fitness level in relation to the Bronco test. He claims that the test is intended to keep Rohit Sharma out of the Indian ODI team and suggests that the cricketer needs to improve his fitness level to secure a spot.

The introduction of the Bronco Test in Indian cricket is significant as it aims to enhance the evaluation of senior men's players' fitness beyond existing tests, thus potentially improving player endurance and performance monitoring. It was introduced due to concerns about the exhaustion of Indian bowlers during Test tours, with Mohammad Siraj being the exception.

However, Tiwary doubts that Rohit Sharma will be considered for the Indian ODI team in the plans for the 2027 World Cup. He believes that the Bronco Test is specifically targeted towards players like Rohit Sharma.

As the World Cup 2027 approaches, the debate surrounding the Bronco test and its impact on the Indian cricket team continues to unfold.
