A 49-year-old Indian engineer has won Dh130,000 in Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket contest after years of trying. Thiyagarajan Periyaswamy, a senior piping engineer from Tamil Nadu, secured the prize just before moving his family back to India. The victory came as a complete surprise to him. Periyaswamy had lived in Abu Dhabi for a decade and had been entering the Big Ticket draws alone since 2019. Unlike many participants, he never joined a group or shared entries with friends. His persistence paid off when he finally won the Big Win contest after six years of trying. The Dh130,000 prize will help Periyaswamy honour his father’s memory and improve his family’s life.
