Increased Sales in May 2025 for Mahindra: A 21% Boost in SUV Sales and an Overall Upward Trend of 17% in Total Sales

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., the Indian multinational automobile manufacturing corporation, has announced impressive sales figures for the month of May 2025. The company reported a total of 84,110 units sold, marking a 17% year-on-year growth compared to May 2024.

In the utility vehicle (UV) segment, Mahindra's core strength continued to yield strong results. On a fiscal year-to-date (YTD) basis, the company has sold 104,761 utility vehicles domestically in FY26 so far, representing a 24% increase compared to the same period in FY25. Mahindra's flagship models, including the Scorpio-N, XUV700, Thar, and Bolero Neo, experienced sustained demand across urban and rural markets.

The sales of SUVs in the domestic market registered a 21% growth over the 43,218 units sold in May 2024. Specifically, the company sold 52,431 SUVs in the domestic market in May 2025. The growth in Mahindra's exports is driven by a 37% increase in May 2025 compared to May 2024, with total exports standing at 3,652 units. On a fiscal year-to-date (YTD) basis, Mahindra's exports have surged 55%, rising from 4,528 units to 7,033 units.

The commercial vehicle (CV) segment's YTD growth in the LCV 3.5T and MHCV category is 5% in FY26. Domestic sales in the CV segment were mixed, with the LCV 3.5T and MHCV category showing marginal year-on-year growth of 1% in May and 5% YTD. The three-wheeler segment, including electric variants, saw a 11% growth in May to 6,635 units, supported by rising adoption of last-mile electric mobility solutions.

The main driver of the robust sales numbers of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in FY26 in the light commercial vehicles category is the strong rural demand recovery supported by policy measures such as tax cuts, GST rationalization, and controlled inflation, which has boosted demand especially at the entry level and bottom-of-the-pyramid segments. This rural demand revival effectively acts as the primary "sponsor" of their sales growth in this segment.

The company's sales include both domestic and export volumes across passenger and commercial vehicle categories. The total SUV sales in May 2025, including exports, stood at 54,819 units. The three-wheeler segment's YTD growth stands at 11% in FY26. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. continues to demonstrate its resilience and growth potential in the Indian automobile market.
