Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST) has seen a significant increase in cargo volumes, with a 15% rise compared to the same period last year. This upward trend is set to continue, according to Dean Boljuncic, head of commercial development at MST.

One of the key contributors to this growth is the arrival of UPS, which will operate a weekly Boeing 767-300 full freighter service from September. This new service will connect Shanghai, Tashkent, Almaty, and the Netherlands.

Another notable addition to MST is My Freighter, an Uzbek airline that will operate a new, twice-weekly Boeing 767-300 full freighter service. My Freighter's service will connect MST with various destinations, including MST's existing links to Shanghai, Tashkent, and Almaty, as well as the Netherlands.

Turkish Cargo, which recently returned to MST after a short absence, has also expanded its service. The airline will add a Boeing 777 flight to its existing twice-weekly service, connecting Quito, Bogota, Miami, Istanbul, and the Netherlands. Turkish Cargo's new flight will transport a variety of goods, including flowers, vegetables, and other commodities.

Ethiopian Cargo has also joined the line-up at MST. The exact nature of Ethiopian Cargo's service at MST is yet to be announced.

MST's growth can also be attributed to a series of Atlas Air charter flights. The airport's team consistently provides fast and flexible handling to customers, which has been instrumental in attracting these new services.

MST's one-stop-shop model offers flexibility and high-quality service, while its AEO certification guarantees quick and secure customs clearance. The airport's team consistently demonstrates the added value provided to customers.

Dean Boljuncic attributes the growth at MST to the efforts of the airport's team and the services offered. He expects the upward trend in cargo volumes to continue for the rest of the year, making MST an increasingly important hub for international cargo operations.
